Throughout his long career, famed rental house owner and film-equipment inventor Denny Clairmont lent a hand to the underdog. Known for his passion to help those in need get the tools necessary to make their jobs and careers a success. He mentored and helped countless cinematographers launch their foray into the film industry. You can learn more about him here.
Coming from the technical support side of the industry like Denny, we want to contribute to this inclusion effort by leveraging our industry resources to educate, mentor and help the selected fellow to navigate the industry networks to open doors.
Mission
Throughout his long career, Denny Clairmont has mentored and helped countless cinematographers launch their foray into the film industry. We want to carry on Denny’s legacy and continue to develop a diverse film making community. The purpose of this fellowship is to help make real change at the ground level.This annual program is meant to identify and assist one young cinematographer gain the access and support needed to get to the next level in their career. We are aware that in the United States, the playing field is uneven and many young people deserving a platform to tell their stories do not have the resources and connections necessary to start a career as a professional cinematographer.

Vision
Representation is lacking at the top levels of our institutions related to the cinema industry. For the near future, we have to ensure the demographics of the professionals involved in content creation better mirrors the population demographics of content consumers. By starting early in a cinematographer’s career, and providing tools and mentor-ship, we can give the fellow a chance to grow and make an impact. The hope is that by opening the door, we can cultivate talent that adds to the diverse tapestry of cinema.
